Purpose

A purpose, a motive, a goal, a finality, an end and sometimes a reason, is the mentally perceived instinctive for an action. It is the end for which the mean is used. Only means are useful for the achievement of higher goals. If higher goals are means for even higher goals, these higher goals are useful as well, but sometimes, highest goals of all have no purpose / reason. They may however have accidental positive effects, but by no means these effects are their higher purpose. Their sole purpose is the thing itself.

Some "purposeless" ends
